We are pleased to invite you to a lecture on Croatian Contemporary Art
by Vanja Žanko, organized by The Croatian Embassy in London and the British-Croatian Society.

ArtEcoGallery, 533 Old York Road, London SW18 1TG http://kristinhjellegjerde.com/

Vanja Žanko will present observations on several interesting art strategies developed in the last decade in Croatia by artists born from 1970s embraced and use the geopolitical context in which they live and work. According to Žanko, contemporary art breeds from its tradition and twists it with innovative ideas. It is therefore, of the particular interest to explore heritage of socialist Yugoslavia in modern art, as well as translations of the transition from socialism to capitalism into art practice. The lecture will also examine the act of image production, exploring the potential and possibilities of this specific medium and questioning the relation between the media and the spectator.

The authors presented will be: Lovro Artuković, Igor Eškinja, Ivan Fijolić, Ivana Franke, David Maljković, Oko Okato, Renata Poljak, SofijaSilvia, Marko Tadić, Tarwuk/Bruno Pogačnik, Ivana Vukšić, Zlatan Vehabović, Žižić/Kožul.
